(Union of Catholic Mothers)
The Union of Catholic Mothers was set up after the First World War, to offer support to those women whose husbands weren't returning from the trenches. For 100 years, they have continued to offer support to women and families within our communities. St. Joseph's UCM foundation takes an active role within the Salford Diocese. They get involved in numerous spiritual events, including an annual pilgrimage to Walsingham. They carry out many acts of charity, including making regular donations to Re:dish foodbank. They lead on organising the Christmas Market for the parish of St. Joseph's, as well as the Rashes charity cricket match against our close neighbours and friends at St Elisabeth's. As a foundation, they
meet together on the first Monday of the month (7 pm in the parish hall at St. Joseph's school, Higginson Rd) where they discuss relevant UCM matters, welcome guest speakers and spend time socialising. The next meeting will be on Monday 2nd December in church when the UCM will be having their annual re-dedication Mass with refreshments afterwards in the parish hall. If you wish to find out more about the UCM, feel free to join them at one of their meetings
where you will receive a warm welcome.
